Adverse childhood experiences (ACEs) affect at least 60% of the population, and a majority of people suffer from some form of insecure attachment. Developmental interpersonal trauma has a profound impact on attachment. Physicians also suffer from the impact of adverse childhood experiences and it's common for them to have relationship difficulties as a result.

In this 3-hour workshop divided into two parts, participants are invited to:

  • reflect on their self-concept/self-worth, what they think theirs is made of, and what type of attachment experiences influenced it in their own life story;

  • identify in which ways their emotional needs were not fully met while growing up that affected their self-concept, which ultimately influenced their relational style; and,

  • identify what are the residual challenges and how to develop self-love practices to constructively address them and promote personal and professional growth.

Because trauma affects how we relate to ourselves, and ultimately others, cultivating self-compassion is prerequisite to experiencing self-love, which we all deserve, and stronger connections and love with others, which will only make us better healers and physicians.
