Urological Surgeon and Naval Officer, Retired

Dr. Snyder is the founder and executive director of the Society for the History of Navy Medicine. The Society sponsors academic panels at the biennial Naval Academy McMullen Naval History Symposium, provides graduate student travel and research grants, and awards a biennial Harold D Langley Book Prize for Excellence in the History of Maritime Medicine. Dr. Snyder writes a blog, Of Ships and Surgeons - Notes on Maritime Medicine, Past and Present. He has published several articles on maritime medical history topics.
